Lightwave roadshow
27/04/2010
Southampton University’s Lightwave Roadshow came to school and set up some experiments with light to show to the pupils. Everyone had a great time testing out the various ways light travels.
You can see some photos of the pupils taking part in the experiments here.
These are some comment from Form 3 and Form 4 pupils:
Jonathan: I especially liked the mirrors because sometimes you were fat and sometimes you were thin. Everything was great.
James: I really enjoyed it when the laser came out with the water and the distorting mirrors and the globe which electrocuted me.
Himani: My favourite parts were the tent with the glow in the dark bones and magic pen, the distorting mirrors, the water laser and the electrocuting globe. I really enjoyed it. It was interesting and I learnt lots as well.
Emma: I especially enjoyed the golden tubes with the lens in it and the long tube that lit up when something vibrated or sounded. Thanks a lot!
Arshia: I enjoyed the globe that electrocuted people and the tube that glowed when I talked or clapped. I liked the pyramid.
Thomas O: I was mesmerised by the globe with the bulb and electric lines, the pyramid and the laser. I hope you are coming back.
Thank you to the university team who spent time explaining how the different displays worked.
