Nursery and Reception took part in the ‘My First Poem’ competition. Here are two of the poems:

My First Poem, by Mariyah

My name is Mariyah and I go to big school,

My best friend is Mariam who is really cool,

I watch CBeebies on TV,

Playing Barbies is lots of fun for me.

I just love Weetabix and milk to eat,

And sometimes a lollypop for a treat.

Purple is a colour I like a lot,

My bike is the best present I ever got.

My favourite person is my Mum, who is a gem,

So this, my first poem, is just for them.

My First Poem, by Naif

My name is Naif and I go to big school,

My best friend is Fawaz who is really cool,

I watch football on TV,

Playing with my gameboy is lots of fun for me.

I just love rice and chicken to eat,

And sometimes ice-cream for a treat.

Blue is a colour I like a lot,

My red car is the best present I ever got.

My favourite person is my baby sitter, who is a gem,

So this, my first poem, is just for them.

The Magic Shoes, by Harry

One day a girl called Hanna was walking along the street. Then Hanna found a pair of shoes left on the ground. And she carried them back home. When she put the shoes on she began to feel like they were magic. She said ‘I wish I could fly’ and she rose up into the air. ‘I wish I could fly to a theme park,’ she said. Then she flew to a theme park. And then she said ‘I wish I could go on one of those roller coasters.’ She landed on it. But then her magic shoes flew off. She went to fetch them but they disappeared and landed on her feet again. She was surprised. Then she said ‘I wish I was back home again’ and then she was in her bedroom. The End.

Once upon a time there was a little girl called Annabelle and Annabelle went on a trip and she saw a shop with lots of shoes in. And she saw some red, sparkly shoes. She bought them and she wore them back home. When she got home she didn’t know they were magic. She was starting to take them off when she flew off the bed. The End.
