Kirsty is ten years old and I am ten too. She has long, brown, straight hair and I have long, brown, curly hair. Kirsty lives quite close to me, so we see each other a lot of the time. We also go to the same school, so that means I see her most of the week. We both live on a beach. It is quiet on the beach, but on a beautiful day, the waves shimmer in the sun and the golden sand burns your feet. One day, when Kirsty and I went for a walk along the beach, I suddenly tripped over. Under my feet lay a strange, dirty egg. It was yellow with purple spots. Kirsty wondered what was in it, picked it up and shook it. I was very excited about our discovery and was curious to know what was in it, so we took it back to my house. It crossed my mind that it could be magical or scary, so I wanted to know. We put the egg down on my bed and suddenly it started moving. I was amazed. Out of the egg came a strange, elf-like creature. He wore tiny, green shorts and a tiny green top. “Hello, I'm Elfy. Please don't be scared. I'm a good elf and I grant you three wishes, so use them well.” Kirsty and I decided carefully about the three wishes. “Wish number one: to make people friendly to each other. Wish number two: to make people helpful and kind. Wish number three: to make the world a safe place to live.” Elfy promised us that he would try hard to grant our wishes. We told our parents, but they just didn't believe us. But Kirsty and I knew it was true and we waited with excitement to see if our three wishes were granted. Who would have thought that an egg could have so much power? The Mysterious Egg, by Sam, Second Prize. Hello, there. Would you like to hear my story of the mysterious egg? My name is Chris and I have short, blond hair and blue eyes. My hobby is playing football. I live near an old, spooky castle, called the Castle of Death . I often visit the castle and I have a secret hiding place that no-one knows about and no-one ever goes there. I used to have a good friend called Toby. I've still got a good friend called George. Toby enjoyed singing and George is interested in football, like me. My story takes place in the unlucky year, 2013. One cold, wet, windy day, my friends and I decided to visit the Castle of Death and to visit our secret place, but on this visit we were amazed to discover a rather strange and mysterious egg. We had never seen anything like it before. Toby told me to touch it, so, carefully I moved forward and stretched out my hand. As soon as my fingers made contact with the shell, smoke billowed out from it, a spine chilling scream filled the castle and we thought we saw a ghost flash past our eyes. We were so excited about finding this amazing egg we decided to leave the castle and take it home, but how to get into the house without my mum finding out? We smuggled it in and up to my bedroom but it really was a bad idea. This was an evil egg. The moment I placed it down, another ghostly scream plunged the room into darkness. The light then flashed on, then off and we were now really scared. This egg had evil powers. Toby tried to move it, but when he touched it, a strange force pushed him to the ground. He lay dead. George and I did not know what to do, but we both knew that the evil spell had to be broken. From the cupboard in the corner of my room, George took the cricket bat and bashed the egg as hard as he could. The egg smashed into small pieces, the lights in the room flashed and a heart stopping scream filled the room, but Toby still lay dead . Then he lifted his head from the floor and wanted to know what had happened to him. We told him about the egg's powerful force and how it had knocked him out and how scared we were. We were glad that Toby was OK and we decided not to tell anyone about our adventure. We decided never to visit the Castle of Death ever again and never to mention our encounter with the mysterious egg.
