An Amazing Discovery, by Hershila

The day was grey and very windy. I put my head down and pulled up my collar as I walked along the water’s edge. I don’t know what made me look up just then, but when I did I could hardly believe my eyes. As I looked up, I saw an alien space ship landing on the beach about a hundred yards away from me.

The door to the alien ship opened and three aliens came out. Then they walked towards me. I was frightened, worried. “What will they do to me?” The aliens took me to their space ship.

They took me to their space ship because they wanted to give me ice-cream and candy-floss. Then they let me out and said, “Enjoy your ice-cream and candy-floss.”

An amazing Discovery, by Serena Reardon

The day was grey and very windy. I put my head down and pulled up my collar as I walked along the water’s edge. I don’t know what made me look up just then, but when I did I could hardly believe my eyes.

It was a space rock, a meteorite, from the middle of space. It had landed on the soft sand and I didn’t know what to do. I had to do something. Oh, too bad, I didn’t bring my mobile phone. Hey, wait! I could use a phone over there.

“Hello? Is that the Rescue Service? I need help. A space rock has just landed and I don’t know what to do. Please help.”

“OK. Where are you?” replied the rescuers.

“I am in Southsea, on the beach.”

The story ended with the scientists exploring the space rock.

Tudor Letters

Form 5 was asked to write the letter that either Henry the Eighth or Catherine of Aragon might have written to each other.

Nicholas

Dear Catherine,

We have been married for twenty-seven years, but unfortunately you have not given me a son. I must have a son to be my heir when I die.

Therefore, as Head of the church, I am going to divorce you and I am going to marry Anne Boleyn who will hopefully give me a son.

Sam J

Dear Catherine,

I do not love you any more. I’m in love with someone else. Her name is Anne Boleyn. You were already married to my brother, Arthur, so our marriage was not real.

I love Mary, our daughter, and she will be well cared for. One day I hope she will marry a king.

So ‘bye ‘bye.

Character Description: Mr Strange, by Sam

Mr Strange was a stoat about twenty years of age. His jacket was covered by rips. His suit was torn down the back. The creepy stoat’s pockets were hanging out and were really dirty. The stoat’s shoe laces were untied. The creature’s toes were hanging out.

The strange creature’s fur was matted and had dirt all over it. His teeth were either gold or missing. He had eyes that were scared badly and blood shot. The stoat’s nose was bleeding and half gone. The creepy stoat’s mouth was

Crooked and his top lip was gone. He had no whiskers and his jaws were dripping with blood. The scruffy stoat’s claws were broken and jagged.

Character Description: Mr Strange, by Serena

Mr Strange is a stoat of around forty years old. He wears a big jacket. It has green and black stripes. His tie is pink and green. The cool Mr Strange has shiny shoes. He wears black glasses and he is so cool! His trousers have green and black stripes. His teeth are as white as blank pieces of paper. The creature has black whiskers and his nose is shiny black. The cool creature’s fur is yellow and his mouth is yellow too. It was cool the way Mr Strange dressed. He was smart and King of Cool.

His nails were clean and he was a bit strange. He listened to a lot of music, so no wonder he was so cool. When he takes his glasses off his eyes are so shiny and brown. Mr Strange smells of men’s perfume from a very smelly place.

Some people think Mr Strange is not strange because they have never met him, but he is. People like his very cool suit because he is very cool. King of Cool, but strange.

Poems inspired by harvest time

Fruit on the table juicy and sweet

In a bowl for me to eat!

Crunchy carrots put on a plate,

Now the peas, oh I just can’t wait!

Potatoes peeled, washed as well

It’ll taste so nice, what a lovely smell!

Sweetcorn, just like a baby's tiny teeth

White, fluffy cauliflowers with a green healthy leaf.

Now all I need is the beef!

FOOD!

                       By Louise

Lovely red apples which have fallen from the tree.

Who's going to eat them? I think me!

So much food I don't know what to pick.

Orange carrots, soft with a little crunch!!

Beautiful  fruit, bananas, limes, tomatoes and peaches,

        Sweet, smooth, oval and ripe.

Bread, brown and rough, white and soft,

Freshly baked, the warm smell fills the house.

Kingsmill, rolls, French sticks and Hovis.

My celebration of food must now end,

 As my stomach is rumbling

Because this poem is making me

!HUNGRY!

                                       By Emily

Food is fantastic.

Bread, soft as a pillow,

Potatoes, fried, roasted or boiled.

Peas like marbles in a warm, winter soup

Broccoli as green as a tree.

Carrots as orange as a shepherd’s sky of delight.

Beans, small, orange ovals swimming in an orange sea.

Mmmmm, food is fantastic!

                                           By Sam W

Red apples, juicy on the inside,

Crunchy, smooth on the outside.

Carrots, crunchy, healthy to eat,

Orange and sweet

Broccoli, like small, tree trees,

They are lovely to eat.

Potatoes are good for you

You boil them to taste yummy.

Bread is brown, and white, too

Soft as a pillow.

It tastes hmmmm

It smells hmmmm

Giant sweetcorn, as yellow as the sun,

Have it from the cob

And even pick your own.

But my favourite food has to be cake!

Cake with cream

In the middle,

Icing on the top,

Maybe some chocolate,

Maybe some fruit…

Oh no! I’m getting too hungry.

I’ll have to stop!

My Buddy, by Emily, Year 5

At St Winifred’s School we have a buddy system. It is designed for new children or children in Reception. Form Five do this. Their job is to take care of their buddy, so after a while you should be good friends. A buddy’s job is to:

  • Take care of your Buddy
  • Help your buddy
  • Just be there for them.

My buddies’ names are Millie and Talia. Millie is four years old and she is in Transition. She has light brown hair and is quite tall. Talia is also four and she is in Transition. She also has a sister in Nursery. Talia has dark brown hair and is quite tall as well.

Both my buddies like to play hide and seek and they also like me to read them stories every Thursday. This year I would like to become a good friend to my buddies, and make sure they can come if they are upset or need someone to talk to.  I hope they will be happy being my buddy.
