Photo of Year 5 pupils at making a bridgeOn Wednesday, 25th June a team of four Year 5 pupils went to the Gregg School for a Science and Technology Challenge with four other primary schools. They built a suspension bridge and took part in a forensic investigation.

Sam W: We thrashed everyone (nearly!) Our bridge was superb and could have held my weight (nearly!) We had to solve a crime scene and we thought it was this guy because his eyes were too close together, but we found the scientific evidence to prove it.

Emily: It was very fun. I liked building the bridge and we won the trophy for it. I liked the detective work too. I liked the experiments.

Nick: Very times two! It was fun. I enjoyed all the day and I’m glad we won a trophy.

Sam J: I thought it was very good fun and we worked well together. We should have won another trophy! It was particularly funny when Nick cut the member that made the bridge fall down, even though he was my team mate and we didn’t win the sweets.

On Monday, 23rd June, a team of athletes went to the Southampton Sports centre to take part in the Athletics Championships.

Lucy B: It was really good, especially rolling down the bank! I don’t know where we came overall in the races, but I came fourth in the 400 metres. It was a fun day.

Leena: I had a good day. In my races I was fourth, but I ran with bigger girls. I liked having my dad come to watch.

Lubna: I came sixth in the 600 metres. I liked taking part. It was nice sitting out and eating lunch.

Harvir: I enjoyed it, but as I was passing the baton in the relay I accidentally hurt my leg. I would like to go again, though.

On Wednesday, 18th June, the choir and orchestra went to play in West Quay Centre to support the Hampshire Autistic Society’s Awareness Day.

Photo of pupils at "Silly Sock Day" singing at West Quay shopping centreKaitlyn: I liked going to West Quay because we were singing to other people. I was a little bit nervous, but once I started it was easy-peasy.

Sam R: Our singing was brilliant and the magician was good.

Antonia: It was fun because I liked everyone watching. I liked the magician and Mango, his rabbit.

Naomi: I thought it was really supreme and the magician was really good. The singing was scary until we got used to it. It was fun.

Himani: I really enjoyed it. I liked having the people watching. I just concentrated on my Mum who came to watch.
