Sports Highlights of the Autumn Term 2007
Under 11 Football v Rookesbury 15th November Stephen: It was a good match, a lot better than we thought it was going to be. We had a good game, but they were quick. Adam: I enjoyed it. It was fun. I played quite well and we only lost by one goal. Max: It was a hard match but it was fun. Under 9 Football v Rookesbury 15th November Sanjiv: We won! I was so happy! I did two good kicks: one went the right way, but one went the wrong way. Oh no! Nick: it went really well. We played well Lars scored two goals, but I set h9im up for one of them. Daniel: It was a fair match. I got hit really hard by the ball. I must keep out of the way in future! The opposition was not that difficult. Lars: I scored two goals again. I thought it was good. I passed a lot to George. George: Their goalie was really good. I think I played well. Netball v Rookesbury !5th November Lucy: I had a good game. It was fun, but slippery. Alice D: We lost 3-2. It was very interesting, but hard work. Emily: It was fun! I scored twice and was Captain. Louise: I kept bumping into people. It was a hard game. Under 9 Football v Woodmill, 7th November Lars: We lost, but I scored both of our goals. We need more players to be back in defence, because the other team was very fast. Jonathan: It was exciting and I liked playing football and I enjoyed the match. Orla: It was good. They won, but we did our best. Daniel: I was frightened because last time we played them we lost by about 10-0, but this time we did score two goals, which I was very happy about. Under10 Football v Woodmill, 7th November George: I was in defence, but it was very hard, because they came down in bunches. We needed all our defenders all the time. We only just lost. Simon: I was in defence some of the time. I really enjoyed it and I think I played quite well. Nick: I let in two really silly goals. One of them was in the first minute! But I also made some good saves. I enjoyed it. Stephen: It was a good game. I got hit in the face and had to come off, but I went back on again. Toby scored a good goal. Ajay: It was a good game. I played quite well and did a lot of tackling. Under 11 Netball v Woodmill, 7th November Ellie: We won, 10-0! I was centre. I had a mean partner, who called me stupid, but I stopped her from getting the ball and passed it on myself. Emily B: It was fun. I was very busy. I was shooter and scored seven goals. They were easy! Louise: I played half the match and enjoyed it. I manage to sit on my partner for a bit of the time. Alice B: I enjoyed the game and it was not just because we won! Under 11 Football v Woodhill, 31st October Man of the Match: Neeraj. Nick: I got better as the game went on. Neeraj was a really good defender. It was really fun in goal because you got to do dives and get really muddy, then rub it off in the bath. Neeraj: it was a bit OK. I played as well as I could and tackled a lot of people. Yaqub: At the beginning it was hard because someone kicked me on the ankle, but I scored one of the goals so I was happy. Toby: Once we got on to the field we thought what a bad pitch. They scored four goals, but we did not lose heart. We got one back, then at the end I scored. The others said it was a ‘Joe Cole’ goal. Under 10 Football v Woodhill, 31st October Max: It was a hard game. They kept on hacking us. At half time it was 6-0 to them. What a wipe out! George P: It was pretty unfair, because when I hacked back at someone who had kicked me, he fell down and said I fouled him! Stephen: Mr O’Flaherty wanted us to carry on, even when we were 5-0 down. I was a defender, but it wasn’t all my fault! Under 9 Football v Rooksbury, 18th October We won 2-1 !! Lars: It was cool. I scored both goals and was Man of the Match. Jonathan: It was fun. When my opponent tried to tackle me, I tripped him up and kept the ball. After, we had sandwiches and doughnuts. George: It was amazing! I think I played well, at least until I hurt my neck. Orla: It was good. I felt I played well. The opposition was good. The best bit was winning. Daniel: The game went pretty well. The opposite team were quite good. Lars was good. James: I was goalie. I only let in one, but saved lots. They were quite good. It was cool. We had a nice tea afterwards. Sanjiv: It was really good. I was in defense and we won. I tried really hard. The pitch was really big. The last relay, in particular, was outstanding, especially as our team are not used to swimming in an Olympic size pool. Mrs Drake: The opposition was very stiff, but we did not come last overall. The team did very well. George: I enjoyed it, but it was a massive pool. I did quite well in the relays. Alice B: We did alright. I did OK too, but we came last in the relay I was in. The pool was much too big! Ellie: I feel like I have swallowed up half the ocean! I was first leg of the last relay and got them off to a good start. Emma: It was scary when we got there, but when I did the first race I felt a bit better. I was pleased with my time. Under 10 Football v Prince’s Mead, 3rd October
Mr O’Flaherty: The man of the match was Neeraj. We scored twice in the first five minutes, which provided the foundation for a solid performance from everyone, lifting their confidence. They were very unlucky not to score more. George: I was nervous at first, but after the kick off I was more confident and the other defenders were too. Sam W: I was looking forward to the match. They looked smaller this time. Nick played well in goal. Nick: My last save came at top speed, but I got my hands to it and saved it. I’m sure the goalie gloves made all the difference. Toby: When I scored after only five minutes, I felt on top of the world. I ran in and slid, then leapt up to celebrate. When Yaqub scored, we were loving it. We were puffed at half time, but on a high at the end. Yaqub: When I scored, I felt really happy, but shocked! Last time we didn’t score anything. Under 11 Netball v Prince’s Mead, 3rd October
Lucy: It was a very fun match but not when I fell over. I was goal attack, but I let Emily score all the goals! Alice B: It was my second match and I enjoyed it. I only played for half the game, but it was really exciting. Georgia: This was a lot fairer game than last time because we played their B team. I still had a great game. I played goal defense. Emily L: I was wing defense. It was my first away match. It was really exciting and I felt good afterwards. Ellie: I was centre, marking their second best player. I managed to hold her, but I played so hard I went bright red. Emily B: I scored four goals. I had a really good game. It was fun. Under 11 Netball against Prince’s Mead, 26th September Alice D: It was good, but we were outplayed, so after twenty minutes we played in mixed teams. Emily: It was good because it was the first real netball match I have played in. I really enjoyed it. Hirshila: I enjoyed it because after twenty minutes we played in mixed teams and then we had drinks and biscuits. Seungyeon: It was good, but they were mostly taller than me because they were two years older than me! Lucy: It was fun. I met lots of new people. Alice B: I really enjoyed it. It was my first match. It was nice playing in the mixed team too. Under 11 Football against Prince’s Mead, 26th September Mr O’Flaherty: This was a new team, with several new players, so they still need to learn to work together. The new goalie, especially, did well, making some good saves. The Man of the match was Sam. Stephen: It was a hard game, but I was gutted. We were beaten by mostly Year Fives! Nicholas: It was great fun, but hard. It was good being in goal. I was pleased with some of my saves. Bane: They were really small, really fast and we were really bad! Yong Yeon: I was a defender. It was a good game. I enjoyed it. Adam: It was a good game, sort of. I was captain and played up front some of the time and in defense. some o9f the time. Even though we lost, I played some good shots.
