Welcome Back after the Spring Holiday

The Summer Term brings lots of opportunities for outside activities and exciting conclusions to the school year.  I should like to bring to your attention a few things that will aid the smooth running of the school this term.

Attendance

The school day begins at 8:50am when the bell is rung in the playground. The children line up and go to their classrooms. Registration takes place till 8:55am when the first lesson of the day begins. Anyone arriving after this is marked late in the register.

Please note that spelling tests, mental arithmetic exercises, hand writing practise and library studies are carried out by ALL classes at 8:55am till assembly. These are important elements of the curriculum.

Holidays

Parents are requested not to arrange family holidays during term time. Where this is unavoidable, a request for a leave of absence form should be made in writing, well in advance of the date. There are several events this term that I need to know well in advance if pupils are unable to attend.

Tuck and Drink

New menus were issued last week and I hope you have had the opportunity to look at them with the pupils. Also the new Government guidelines for snacks were attached.

We would like to abide by these rules so ask that pupils bring only fruit and a healthy drink for morning break. Nursery will continue to have their tuck provided in their classroom.

No nuts, sweets, biscuits, cakes, crisps, sandwiches or bars of chocolate are allowed.

Plastic bottles, not glass bottles, or cartons of drink are best, because these are easier for the pupils to deal with themselves. Bottles of water are encouraged for classroom use and for games/gym lessons. The pupils all have access to water at any time during the day.

Snack Shop

Mrs Read has carefully considered the Healthy Options suggested by the School Council and has suggested some ideas within the Government’s guidelines for Snack Shop. Cost for the Summer goodies will be 30p.
