Friday 25th May

As part of our ongoing project to "posh-up the playground", it was decided that the money raised by the pupils and parents at our Easter Celebration would be used to buy an smart animal bin.  The pupils were invited to vote for their choice of animal a few weeks ago.

"Froggo" won by one vote!  He arrived this week and we held a grand unveiling in the playground at the beginning of school this morning.

Image of the UglingCharlotte : It was quite scary when we went on stage. I was quite shaky. I thought that Gaby lifting me went well. My mum and Nan (who made my Superman costume) thought I was really good.

Ellie: It was amazing that we came third. I was really excited to be in it.

Alice B: It was very exciting but scary. There were so many people and we were the smallest group. All the others had fifty to eighty people and we were only fifteen! I was really happy when we got third place. It was lots of hard work, but we got a good result.

Ella: It was really, really fun. I met loads of new friends. I am really happy we came third.

Gaby: I really enjoyed it and it was good fun. It was a good experience and most of the girls enjoyed the make up and hair. I was pleased about the best entertainment award because that is what we went to do.

Fiona: I really enjoyed the performance. I was shocked by getting third place. I saw some of the others and they were really good.

Jessica: It was really fun. I made some nice friends. It was amazing that we came third out of eleven. It was cool on the stage – the size, the lighting and when the audience reacted.

Reece: it was fantastic, but quite unnerving to know that there were two thousand people staring at me. But we got through it. Image of the Ugling

Georgia : it was amazing and great fun. It was good performing in front of lots of people, but a bit boring in the dressing room waiting our turn.

Alice D: It was really exciting, but I had to try very hard not to think of all the parents, there were so many of them. It was an amazing experience.

Lucy: It was scary, but fun. On stage it was boiling hot.

Emma: It was really cool. Although it was boring waiting to go on, it was excellent when we were on stage. I would love to do it again.

Jack: it was good. It was a great experience. I enjoyed it on stage, but not in the dressing room.

Tristan: I liked it. It was great. I did not feel nervous in front of all those people.

Adam: It was exciting. I enjoyed it. There were a lot of people, but I am used to that.

Miss Oakley: It was a fantastic day. I was very proud of all the children. The Rock Challenge staff were very enthusiastic and helpful and commented on how well behaved our s were. I'm looking forward to next year.

Mr O'Flaherty: It was great. We can build on this, because we have set a high standard for others to follow.

Ms Patchett: It was an exhilarating day. It was daunting to see so many in other teams, but we worked together and did really well.

Mrs Drake: It was a tremendous experience and the cast worked really hard and did well.

Mr Pearcey: What a buzz! It took me till one o'clock in the morning to come down enough to go to bed! The organization was excellent, with workshops and entertainment all day, but in spite of all the activities, our team went on stage full of energy and commitment. They deserved to do well.

Mrs Pearcey: I was very proud of St Winifred's. They were such a small group in such a large crowd and still they did well! Special Award for most entertaining performance – the best one to get!

Trip to the ‘Horrible Histories' at the BIC in Bournemouth Tuesday, 24th April

Forms 2 to 6 went to see the ‘Horrible Histories'. The show was an adaptation of the popular series of books of the same name.

Sanjiv: I enjoyed it, especially when the things came flying at us. I liked the men fighting and whipping the ladies back and…

Zoe: I thought it was scary when we had the glasses on because of the arrows and the heads. It was nice to see only four actors acting all the parts. When they stabbed each other it was very realistic. Some of it was terrifying.

Sherie: it was very freaky. It was not really scary, but the 3D glasses made it scary.

Paige: It was quite scary, but funny. I like it when I get scared. The scariest bit was the crocodile jumping out at us.

Neeraj: It was so scary and I enjoyed it. I learned some history from it, too. I voted for Caligula being the most horrible emperor.

Sam J: It was fun. I liked it a lot. Some of it was very funny – when they were standing in front of the bridge, bent over with their backs to me.

Hershila: It was really good. It was exciting and fun, but too scary when you put the glasses on. The singing was nice, I enjoyed it.

Charlotte : It was great! I was disappointed because there was not much blood, but the 3D effects were so cool. It scared me and I screamed really loudly. At the end, when the bats came with their mouths open it was really scary. It felt weird.

Joe: it was great. The best bits were the 3D bits, with all the blood and when the gladiators were fighting. It was a pity we missed a bit.

Fiona: I liked the second part with the 3d effects, especially when the crocodile came out of the trap.

Freddie: I liked the floating heads and the bit where we voted about the most horrible emperor. I learned from it.
