Highlights of the Autumn Term 2006Carol Service 8th December 2006 at 2pm at Avenue St Andrew's Church
Parents and friends enjoyed a lovely start to the festive season with the traditional carol service at Avenue St Andrews Church in Southampton. As well as carols and readings, the whole school took part in a beautiful nativity. A few weeks before the Carol Service, Orla in Transition asked Mrs Pearcey to write to the Times Newspaper. They were going to chose from the schools who write to them, some to visit and to take pictures of their nativity. This is what we wrote: Our Nativity service, taking place in the local church, has always been a traditional beginning to the Christmas festivities for friends and families. This year is especially important as the whole school are taking part in the readings, music and acting of the special story. The rehearsals have started, everyone has the tunes humming in their heads and the feeling of Christmas magic is spreading. After such hard work, the singing of special songs and carols, hearing Bible readings and watching our younger pupils act out the story helps us to remember and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
