Year 9 Camp

After a long journey in the coach we finally arrived in Bude to a warm welcome from the instructors. My groups’ instructor, Ben, was great and we had great fun in the evenings playing games and going down to the beach. I especially enjoyed Kayaking, abseiling and body boarding, which all had their funny moments.

On of the best highlights had to be Karaoke night, watching Brogan, Josh and Charlie Bayles singing - it was hilarious! All in all, it was a great week, full of times we shall remember for a long time to come.

After a long and tiring journey to Bude, everyone settled into their rooms and enjoyed the activities on the first night. Throughout the week we took part in many fun and adventurous activities, with great instructors to help and support us. A few of my personal favourites were body boarding, high ropes and kayaking. I thought that one of the scariest activities was caving because I do not like being in small spaces and I’m a bit scared of the dark. However, I persevered with it.

The centre always woke us up early in the morning to get ready for a morning swim or run, which I found very hard. The food was good too - they made sure we got three standard sized meals a day which contained lots of carbohydrate to keep our energy up throughout the busy days. By the end of the week we were all shattered and were looking forward to having a rest, but we also knew we would miss the joy and excitement of Bude.

I hope our parents enjoyed last week as much as we did! Each day at Bude we were given two different activities that challenged us mentally and physically. The early morning runs were not appreciated by all, but was one of the few things to moan about! The instructors were very professional and helped us successfully complete all the tasks which were thrown at us. All too quickly it was time to come home.

The activities at Bude were brilliant, the majority of us found that the body boarding and surfing were their favourites, although my favourite was the abseiling. I think the whole experience of camp week brought us closer together as a year group.
