ARBORETUM TASK FORCE

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

Arboretum at the Townhill Park House GardensMany will have seen the fantastic progress we have made in the Arboretum – from the beautiful pictures of the Snow, Frost, Bluebells, blossom and Deer during the year. We have already opened up beautiful scenes simply by removing massive amounts or excess holly, bramble, and deadwood. We have also started planting new trees throughout The Orchard and The Arboretum, and new Nesting Boxes all over the grounds.

There is still much to do but it is amazing how much a small team can do in the three hour sessions we have throughout the year.

If you can spare time on any of the dates we are planning to clear the Arboretum, we would appreciate your help, and free refreshments are provided at around 1130. All you need is old clothing, gardening gloves, sensible footwear, and secateurs or pruning saw if you have them.(We can also borrow tools from the tool shed if necessary).

You can download the dates for clearing the Arboretum here.

If you always wanted to come along this is your chance – fresh air, exercise, good company and a sense of achievement. It also improves access for those whovisit Townhill Park House and makes the grounds safer and more attractive for the children of The Gregg School.

Just turn up at 10am on the day or call Ian Southwell on 023 8044 0390 or Mobile 07896781224 for more details or to volunteer your help. We would like to finish this major work by 2012, to celebrate the Centenary of the existing house and gardens, and to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, (whose Grandmother Queen Mary was a regular visitor to the House). Quite a challenge!!
