The front of St. Winifred's SchoolSt. Winifred’s is a small independent school in a central position in Southampton. The mainschool caters for children aged five to eleven. The nursery takes children from two years old, including those receiving nursery grants. St Winifred’s is a member of ISA and ISCis.

The school aims to provide for the whole child through a modern curriculum, with an enriched programme of study and opportunities to develop all the child’s talents.

Literacy, Numeracy, Science and the development of ICT are at the heart of primary St. Winifred's School Playgroundeducation, so these are given a great deal of time and emphasis throughout the school. Pupils are encouraged to develop the habit of a disciplined approach to work and to discover the kind of fulfillment which comes from working with others. Our web-site gives a detailed outline of the school’s curriculum, which provides a structured academic programme. This starts with the Nursery strategies for each child to achieve highly in the Early Learning Goals, leading to excellent results for pupils in their SATs at the end of Key Stages 1 and 2 in Years 2 and 6. All children are encouraged and helped, by our specialist teachers, to achieve their potential. Regular testing and continuous assessment prepare them for their entrance exams and SATs, thus preparing them for further achievement at secondary school.

The school provides regular feedback aThe rear playgroundbout pupils’ progress at Parents’ Evenings and in termly reports. Regular information packs and newsletters are sent to parents.  We believe that good communication involves parents in their children’s education.

The school is proud of its achievements in music, drama, games, swimming and gymnastics. As well as our own two indoor hall spaces and playground, the school takes advantage of Southampton’s many sporting facilities. Weekly games, swimming and gym sessions with qualified staff are provided, as well as a variety of after school sports activities.

St. Winifred’s also gives its upper school pupils speech training for the Trinity College Effective Communication examinations. Each year many pupils achieve distinctions and merits but, most importantly, all gain much personal satisfaction and confidence from the experience.

Further opportunities are provided, through extra-curricular activities, to develop pupils’ individual talents and personal strengths and interests. Individual and group achievement is recognised and appreciated by the whole school and children are encouraged to learn their own self-worth.

St. Winifred's SchoolThe school provides Before School Care from 8.00am and After School Club until six o’clock for pupils aged three upwards.

Potential pupils are very welcome to spend a ‘taster’ day with their prospective class, to allow them to form some impression of the school.
